Floral, botanical and garden themes are a perennial favourite on the wedding scene and current trends see a return to bold, dazzling blooms against a gentle vintage and rustic aesthetic. Inspired by the gardens of Coombe Trenchard, this styled shoot offers a fresh take on a classic summer garden wedding.

Cradled within Dartmoor's epic landscape, the secluded venue combines Art Nouveau charm with a myriad of stunning features - not least the glorious gardens where a stream and sweeping lawns meet an Italian terrace with views across to Brent Tor. The beautifully refurbished coach house, which houses a bar area, dance floor, snug and an entrance framed with fire pits, is a breathtaking and versatile new space - and the focus of this styled shoot.

"I wanted a focus on the flora and green on green of an English country garden with a nod to the modern for forward-thinking couples," explains Bridget Scott of Blue Fizz Events. "I imagined an informal yet decadent banquet on the lawn with rustic furniture, delicate vintage crockery and vintage champagne saucers, complete with edible floating flowers in the champagne," she adds.

An abundance of greenery and flowers in a riot of colours are key to the look. In keeping with the fresh vibe, the bride accessorises her beautiful couture gowns with an asymmetric flower crown, a carnival of curls and dewy summery make-up, while the groom dons a blue linen jacket and striped tie for a contemporary take on classic style. Add two exquisite cakes - one adorned with natural blooms and the other an intricate display of handcrafted iced flowers and vines - and stationery blending elegant typography and rustic twine, and the scene is set for, as Bridget explains: "a long afternoon of celebrations surrounded by nature's best."
