A wedding against the glorious backdrop of St Ives in the early September sunshine was highly appropriate for Clare and Dave. "We had both been down to Cornwall every year since we could remember," says Clare. The couple, who live in Wolverhampton, have known each other since they were 15. After losing touch for some years, they bumped into each other in 2005 and love blossomed. On their first trip to the county together, Dave proposed over a picnic at Trevose Head.

Their wedding was full of personal touches and Cornish details, while a colour scheme of dark blue and ivory lent an elegant aesthetic. This was particularly reminiscent in the gorgeous flowers, which included white calla lilies, white avalanche roses, blue gentian and pale blue delphinium.

Some of the personal touches were inspired by a certain TV drama: "We're huge fans of the TV show 'Lost', so we named the tables after Dharma stations and I walked down the aisle to music by Michael Giacchino," comments Clare.

Cornish details added to the personal factor. Personalised bottles of Healey's Scrumpy Cider doubled as wedding favours and place settings, while Dave wore reclaimed tin cufflinks and the best man and Clare's father wore Cornish pasty cufflinks. The wedding rings were handmade by the Gauge Gallery in St Ives.

Clare arrived at Tregenna Castle in style in a classic camper van from Cornwall VW Wedding Hire. After the short civil ceremony, everyone spilled outside for al fresco drinks and photos.

The wedding menu included cream of Cornish market vegetable soup, roast topside of beef with a rosemary and red wine gravy and Chantilly filled profiteroles with a dark chocolate sauce. As dusk began to fall, Clare and Dave headed off in the camper van to Gwithian for some photographs. "It was lovely to have some time to ourselves," reflects Clare.

Traditional Cornish band 'Bagas Porthia' kicked off the evening revelry. "The band was amazing and came armed with dancers, who had no trouble getting the guests out of their seats and on the dance floor." The party continued with a DIY disco comprising a play list of guests' requests. "We danced until the last possible moment!"

The newlyweds spent their honeymoon at The Sands in Carbis Bay where they chilled out in a luxurious apartment with stunning views across the bay.

Reflecting on their sunny Cornish wedding, Clare advises, "Don't try to please everyone as your wedding should be personal to you. Also, make sure you get time together."
