Here at Wed, we like to think we celebrate Cornwall in every issue: its landscape, its creative people and its romance as a wedding destination. But this issue is different. These pages serve as an ode to the county, taking you to the windswept cliffs, granite-speckled moors, sandy beaches and secret pockets of woodland, where you'll find beautiful gowns, flowers, cakes and details photographed in the landscapes that prove so inspirational to both those who create here - and those who marry here.
We delve deeper into Cornwall's creative spirit in our designer showcases: in 'Behind the Seams' we meet a trio of bridal designers who draw on their surroundings to create unique and truly exquisite bridal wear. And in 'Ring Leaders' we meet some brilliantly talented local jewellers whose captivating engagement and wedding rings bear the inspiration of Cornwall's landscape, from the woodland to the coastline.
Lending their artistry to the sweet stuff, Cornwall is also home to some incredible cake designers and, in 'Sweet Art,' you can feast your eyes on a showstopping selection of mouth-watering masterpieces for your cake planning pleasure.
Meanwhile, our venues feature, 'Ever After,' takes you inside four of Cornwall's most extraordinary historic venues. There's the sweeping majesty of Pentillie and the atmospheric Tudor climes of Pengersick Castle to the Georgian elegance of Burncoose House and the heady romance of Boconnoc, whom we'd like to thank for providing the most stunning backdrop for our tenth anniversary styled shoot, 'It's a Celebration!' in issue 40.
Our celebration of Cornwall reaches its crescendo in 'Got Wed'. This issue, we meet eight couples who embraced the county in the most inventive of ways: there's Ariko and Jamie, who's beautiful wedding celebrated global culture and cuisine - from Japan and the US to Cornwall - while sourcing almost everything locally as a nod to the stunning county of their marriage. Then there's Cornish milliner, Holly Young, and her husband, Nik, who drew on a specific corner of Cornwall - the Roseland - to inspire the palette, personality and details of their laidback beachside wedding. From the seaside to a Cornish country vibe, each and every couple brought the county to the heart of their celebrations in meaningful and memorable style. I hope they inspire you to do the same - in a so 'you' way, of course!
