FOR THE LOVE OF CORNWALL

I love Cornwall. Having grown up on its salty shores, I've spent most of my life on its far western tip. And working on this issue of Wed, though I hadn't thought it possible, I've fallen in love with Cornwall a little more. From blankets of snow to endless weeks of sun, the county has shone through the extremes of the seasons, as the breathtakingly beautiful weddings and photo shoots in these pages show.

Arriving at Beacon Crag to shoot our bridal fashion story, 'Into the Blue,' we were all a little awestruck at the incredible panoramas that met us. Sitting on the edge of the south coast near Porthleven, the house overlooks mile upon mile of blue seas and rugged cliffscape. We photographed a collection of gorgeous gowns, from chic separates to gowns of soft tulle and silk, on the edge of cliffs speckled with wild flowers and rock pools filled with crystal clear waters. It was dreamlike. The sun was warm; the views were otherworldly; some of our team even went for a dip in the sea between shots! It was Cornwall at its best, and the dreamy images capture it beautifully.

Those of you dreaming of a wedding against a similarly spectacular backdrop will find plenty of food for thought in our waterside wedding venues feature, 'You, Me and the Sea', while 'The Great Outdoors' is packed with expert advice for planning an al fresco ceremony in a scenic spot.

But it's not all about the coast. Extraordinary styled shoot, 'Eastern Promise' takes us to an idyllic hidden corner of Cornwall: The Japanese Garden in St Mawgan, where exquisite dresses and flowers are captured against the serene setting of cascading blossoms and maple trees.

Continuing our love letter to the county, we can't think of a better place for a minimoon; in 'The Minimoon Hot List' we've picked out some of the county's luxe new spots to stay, which combine luxurious touches and modern design with picture-perfect locations.

And this issue's 'Got Wed' is brimming with backdrops as beautiful as its love stories. From Matt and Dan's nuptials amidst the spring gardens and faded grandeur of Enys House to Sarah and Jamie's relaxed bohemian wedding in the woods, Cornwall's hinterland rivals the coast for its romance factor in these love-filled and personality-packed celebrations. Then there's Katie and Sam's wedding during the blizzards of March - the photos capturing the spring flowers, the sea and the snow are incredible, proving that winter in Cornwall can be just as enchanting as a sun-drenched summer.
