CALL OF THE WILD
I've always loved living here in the west, on our little finger of land that juts out into the rolling Atlantic. But I fell under its spell a little deeper when we arrived at Hendra Cottage, the awe-inspiring backdrop for our bridal fashion story, 'The Edge of the World.' Perched high on the clifftops of the far west, the gorgeously designed property looks out across heather-cloaked fields, rugged cliffs and the endless ocean. We loved every moment of our time there, photographing cliffscape-inspired blooms, bold, colourful jewels and light, dreamy dresses made for dancing under the stars. Now a venue for a magical tipi celebration, we were reminded just how wildly romantic a wedding in Cornwall can be - and this spirit echoes throughout these pages.
From west coast to north coast, our venues feature, 'Northern Lights', explores four wedding venues located within touching distance of the dramatic coastline, from an historic inn to scenic vineyard. In our elopement special, 'Brave the Elements' celebrates the windswept romance of running away to marry on the cliffs of the far west. Then, in 'The Power of Few', we meet three couples who felt drawn to our little corner of heaven, marrying in small and perfectly personal celebrations, from a tipi party in the woods to a just-for-two do on the edge of the south coast.
The call of the wild continues in 'Flaming Love', as Woodfired Weddings introduce us to their 'Off the Grills' festival-style feasts, which can be set up anywhere, from countryside to clifftop. 'Wild at Heart' serves up rock 'n' roll wedding inspiration for festival-loving couples with a taste for live music, darkly decadent details and partying until dawn. And 'First Light' celebrates the charm of a contemporary country wedding at an away-from-it-all north Cornwall idyll, styled with crisp whites and botanical greens. We've even picked out some exquisite wedding rings for couples keen to marry the natural beauty of Cornwall with their love for each other in 'Cornish Treasures.'
A love affair with Cornwall shines through our real weddings, too. Ashleigh and Greg filled the moorland setting of Trevenna with pumpkins, wild flowers and candy corn at their autumnal wedding, while gig-rowers Sophie and Adam threw a sun-drenched tipi reception within pebble-hurling distance of the shore at Caerhays Estate. Alyssia and Gaurish, meanwhile, followed up their beautifully unique Pagan-Indian ceremony by watching the boats bobbing across the sea from the headland of Pendennis Castle - a colourful celebration of their personalities, cultural traditions and Cornwall's landscape - now that's wildly romantic!
