Dare we say it, but 'rustic' is being replaced by something altogether more pared-back and oh-so pretty? Reworking elements from the perennially favourite wedding style, today's outdoor weddings are all about blending the inside and outside for an abundance of natural beauty.
Located in Lamerton just outside Tavistock, Hurlditch Court provides the breath-taking backdrop for this styled shoot. The Grade II listed manor house boasts a history that dates back as far as 1351 and oozes character and charm while presenting couples with an exclusive myriad of outside (and indoor) spaces to celebrate and say "I do". Couples have the option of staging an al fresco ceremony by the lake before hosting a grand marquee or tipi reception that continues to spoil guests with those to-die-for views, or can arrange an intimate party and accommodation for 14 guests - or even an elopement wedding in the Gatehouse.
The venue requires little styling, but lends itself perfectly to bespoke weddings with individually designed decor, whether you envision an elegant celebration, boho-inspired affair or vintage glam party, all of which are reflected in the shoot. The ceremonial space is simply arranged with wicker chairs adorned with miniature posies of dried flowers as the couple utter their vows in front of the lake and a striking wooden triangular frame flanked by neutral florals, all evoking a full immersion in the awe-inspiring landscape.
The dress code merges a sense of timeless glamour with whimsical detail, first with a stunning lace two-piece with flutter sleeves and then with a heavenly halterneck with a modern fairytale edge. A fresh flower headpiece with wavy free-flowing locks, then a braided ballet style bun decorated with a floral fascinator finishes each lust-have look. The groom is equally as eye-catching in a suave three-piece complete with on-trend fern green waistcoat followed by a sage windowpane suit: both the epitome of country cool.
Inside, the reception space continues the botanical theme courtesy of a green table runner scattered with foliage and tiny vases of colour pop blooms in indigo and violet. The table settings are elegantly dressed with stationery featuring botanical motifs, while the glassware, crockery and cutlery remain plain and simple to allow the space to breathe and subtly shine. The two-tier hand painted cake requires just a single ribbon for adornment and provides the chicest centrepiece that also works to tie the scene together to visually stirring effect.
