The cake-making creative geniuses behind Peboryon have launched their latest collection - and we can't get enough of it. Inspired by a collection of paintings by William Godward, Christine of Peboryon explains the designs, which were showcased in this beautiful shoot at Powderham Castle.
The white and gold cake, inspired by the painting 'The Mirror' evokes a delicate and feminine touch in a beautifully bridal way, while 'Nerissa' is a green buttercream and poppyseed cake with black shards, a dramatic presence on any dessert table. "The blending of the soft sage with the clean angles that change as you move around the cake make it so arresting," says Christine.
'Far Away Thoughts' gave life to a purple and pink cake that has an ethereal quality, with the butterflies playing in a cushion of gorgeous florals, while the hand-painted purple anemone cake was inspired by the painting 'A Stitch in Time'. Using an entirely different shape, the curves of the koi and lily pad cake, inspired by 'Dolce Far Niente', lend themselves to the notion of movement of water, with sugar lily pads and flowers floating on the surfaces.
"Creating a collection gives the opportunity to push boundaries, and try new things," says Christine. "It's a no-rules playground and we love diving in and seeing what we can imagine, and how we can inspire our clients."
