Love Struck

A fortuitous encounter in a Brighton bar led to a blossoming romance for Becky and Ed. At the time, Ed was the manager of the bar where air hostess Becky had popped in for a drink. "We then discovered during our first date that we were both from Devon and our parents only lived 30 minutes apart!" says Becky.

Having organised a weekend in the capital for Becky's birthday in June 2010, Ed popped the question during an evening stroll along the Thames. "It was the best night of my life - I was the happiest woman alive!" reflects Becky. The couple soon moved back to Devon to set up their own business.

Envisioning a large-scale celebration, Boringdon Hall Hotel emerged as the perfect reception venue for the couple, while Wembury Church, with its dreamy coastal views, provided a sublime backdrop to tie the knot. A coral colour scheme tied the details together, from the bridesmaids' maxi dresses to the sashes decorating the chairs in the marquee.

Despite a deluge of rain prior to the ceremony, the skies cleared and it turned out to be a beautiful sunny day, allowing the couple to head down to Wembury Beach for photographs after emerging from the church as husband and wife.

Everyone enjoyed champagne and canapes to the chilled soundtrack of a saxophonist at Boringdon Hall Hotel. A delicious meal followed in the marquee, where guests took their seats for the multiple delights of roast beef and all the trimmings, profiteroles and some amusing speeches.

The Great Hall made an atmospheric backdrop for the evening reception, where live band Up For Grabs wowed the guests followed by a DJ. "It was truly awesome! The dance floor was full all night," reflects Becky. "To finish the evening off, Ed and I were on top of our friends' shoulders dancing and singing to 'Never Forget' by Take That. It was awesome and definitely summed up the whole day."

"It truly was the most incredible and special day of our lives and we would do anything to do it all again," reflects Becky. She has oodles of advice for other couples in the midst of planning: "Make sure you start planning early to get the venue and church you really want and enjoy every moment of the planning - don't let it stress you out." She adds, "Ensure you get the best photographer, entertainment and florist and enjoy every moment as it goes very quickly!"
