Hannah and Pete met in Liverpool and got engaged on safari in Africa. "Pete had planned to propose at the top of the Ngorongoro crater, an old volcano with an incredible view, but when we made it to the top the heavens opened with thunder and lightning so we had to run back to the jeep," recalls Hannah. "He seemed very anxious I didn't understand why until he proposed in our tent later that night: we were snuggled up in our sleeping bags with no electricity so I had to shine a torch to see the ring!"
Both hailing from Manchester, Hannah and Pete chose The Green to celebrate their wedding, as Hannah has so many fond memories of family holidays in the county. "We fell in love with the old farm and it was so special to have such a private place all to ourselves for the entire weekend. It felt just like a holiday for everyone," she says.
Luckily for the couple, who wanted a laid-back, informal wedding day, fate afforded them a beautiful summer's day, perfect for getting married outside under the trees. Hannah wore an exquisite gown by Suzanne Neville, while a palette of soft pinks and creams, carried in the bridesmaids' dresses and floral arrangements, perfectly complemented the summery vibe. The guests of honour were the couple's two pugs. "Elvis was a second best man and Bobo was a little flower pug. They were the real stars of the day!" she says.
"We wanted our guests to really enjoy themselves as they had all travelled so far for us," says Hannah. So the couple treated everyone to a Cornish theme, where local delicacies were served throughout the day, such as mini Cornish pasty canapes with champagne, vintage afternoon tea with Cornish Yarg, crab sandwiches and Cornish clotted cream scones, lawn games, Cornish cider and ales, a fish and chip van, and a traditional Cornish ice cream stand!
"My favourite moment would have to be the speeches; they were all hilarious and my stomach ached from laughing," reflects Hannah. "I was really touched when my best friend and maid of honour stood up and did an incredible speech that I was not expecting at all," she adds.
Funk and soul band, Blue Juice, then began playing and everyone partied until late. "We ended the celebrations on the Sunday night with a great big barbecue and games outside," remembers Hannah. "Don't worry if things don't exactly go to plan on the day," she advises other busily planning couples. "You will be so happy in your own little bubble you won't even notice!"
