Rachael and Andy first met at university in Plymouth back in 2014. “It didn’t take us long to realise we were best friends after that!” she recalls. Following university, the couple navigated a long-distance relationship until Rachael moved to Bristol to join Andy while completing her teacher training. “It wasn’t long until we bought and moved into our first home, along with our lovely pup Woody. Ten years later, we’re in our second home and Woody is five and we have a baby on the way!”
Over the course of their relationship, long walks with Woody in Cornwall have become a cherished tradition. So, after Andy’s proposal in their favourite holiday destination of Rethymno in Crete, it was no surprise that Cornwall became their top choice for a wedding location. “Cornwall is our favourite place in the UK to visit, and we go as often as we can with Woody as he adores it too!” says Rachael.
“Tredudwell stood out to us straight away. It was the first venue we visited, and it was absolutely gorgeous – so quiet and beautiful. The manor house and grounds are just stunning.”
The couple booked three nights at Tredudwell, turning their wedding into a mini holiday with all their favourite people. Surrounded by picturesque countryside leading down to the sea, they chose a coastal blue palette with touches gold, which carried through every detail – from the floral arch to the cake decorations and the elegant place settings. “Emily Rose Event Hire brought our vision to life perfectly,” says Rachael. “I also made a lot of personalised items myself on the Cricut machine, including a mirror, place names, menus, favours and signage.”
An outdoor ceremony had always been part of the couple’s dream – but a morning of fog and drizzle threatened to derail those plans. Luckily, the rain stopped at midday and them team worked quickly to move the ceremony set-up outside to Tredudwell’s natural amphitheatre. “It looked absolutely incredible,” says Rachael. “It was a relaxed ceremony with acoustic music and readings by my sister, my 10-year-old niece and Andy’s mum.”
Woody delivering the rings was a standout moment. “He had a doggy nanny who let him off his leash at the top of the aisle, and he ran straight to us with so much excitement. It was just perfect!”
After the ceremony, guests enjoyed drinks and canapés while a saxophonist set the party mood with Ibiza dance hits. Rachael and Andy style a quiet moment together for photos on the clifftops. “Escaping to the cliffs for photos was so special. It was just us, in this secluded and gorgeous spot.”
On their return, everyone tucked into a wedding breakfast featuring slow-roasted loin of Cornish pork, local scallops and spiced beef koftas with a selection of sides and dark chocolate brownie, lemon cheesecake and Eton mess for dessert. As night fell, the saxophonist teamed up with the DJ for an electric set. “We had glow sticks, which looked amazing on the dance floor," says Rachael. "Everyone had so much fun!”
Reflecting on the day, Rachael says, “It was perfect from start to finish – the happiest day of our lives! Having all our family and friends with us in beautiful Cornwall in such a relaxed and gorgeous venue was a dream come true.”
Her advice to other couples is simple: “Everything will work out in the end, so just enjoy every second!”
