Vintage glamour meets modern accents

Drawing on her background in London's haute couture houses, Christine Trewinnard crafts the most breathtaking gowns from her studio in Cornwall. And, in this hauntingly beautiful styled shoot, her flair for mixing classical and vintage design, as well as her painstaking attention to detail, shines through the atmospheric setting of a once-grand country house.

 

 

 

 

'The shoot was inspired by an iconic era, where evening gowns were unabashedly glamorous and one was almost expected to appear in the genre of a film noir,' explains Christine. 'The juxtaposition of Hollywood's golden age merging with a tumbled down atmospheric estate is nostalgically exciting; with its peeling wallpaper, breakaway ivy and dusty books, Poltimore House was the perfect backdrop.'

 

 

 

 

Although markedly distinct in style, each striking silhouette exudes a timeless beauty, making for a truly unforgettable bridal look. There's the clean, modern edge of the sheer organza blouse with satin collars and cuffs, paired with a sophisticated satin skirt complete with hidden side pockets. Continuing on the separates theme, a silky soft relaxed top looks stunning with the lightly sequinned feather design of the skirt.

 

 

 

 

Then there's the organza dress, which, adorned with floral embroidery and kimono style sleeves edged with a vintage marabou trim, exudes a starlet-esque style. And the halterneck gown shimmers with a sea of sparkly white sequins, a veil of fine tulle falling from the shoulders in a heavenly full bridal train. 

 

 

 

 

The tablescape sees abandoned furniture styled with crushed velvet, gold cutlery and bespoke glassware to echo the lavish parties the house once held. The cake, with its edible colour dusts of greys, steels and soft milky peaches, and torn wafer paper mirroring the ageing walls, slips perfectly into the tumbled down grandeur. The trailing soft foliage and muted hues of the English garden flowers enhance the ethereal beauty of the scene, while the gold, pearl and diamanté accents of the stationery whisper of the iconic age of Hollywood glamour.
