"We fell for each other really quickly," reveals Jenna, who first met Ashley in a nightclub in Plymouth. "We love to travel together each year and share new experiences." The couple were holidaying in Mexico when Ashley popped the question after a lavish six-course champagne dinner under the stars. "We took a walk along the beach and onto a short promenade with fairy lights where he told me to look at the view and as I turned around he was bent on one knee! I burst into tears - it was amazing!" recalls Jenna.
Bickley Mill was the first venue they visited "and I fell in love with it right away," remembers Jenna. "It was country and rustic but a blank canvas ready for us to put our own stamp on it," she explains.
A pretty palette of white, pale blue, pale pink and mint green was paired with textures of lace and hessian to create a rustic look, which was enhanced by features including a lantern and petal-lined aisle, rustic wooden signage and pastel-painted wicker hearts. Everything from the decor to the dress was personalised, with Jenna opting to customise her gown by removing the sleeves, lowering the back, and adding a dusting of iridescent and diamante beading. Ashley caused a similar sartorial stir with his air force blue three-piece suit, bright white pocket square and navy tie ensemble complete with a buttonhole that featured flowers echoing the colour scheme.
Following the ceremony, a sumptuous sit-down meal treated guests to roasted red pepper soup and chicken liver parfait followed by salmon salsa verde, mushroom risotto and chicken madeira sauce, which was completed in classic style with chocolate and raspberry brownies and crme brlee.
The evening saw an al fresco barbecue hosted on the decking, where giant Jenga, props and a photo frame kept guests entertained alongside a personal playlist created by Ashley. Later, everyone danced the night away to the couple's favourite tunes, while uplighting and huge LOVE lights added extra ambience as night fell on their glorious sun-drenched day.
"Take a moment, step back and take it all in!" advises Jenna. "It's such a memorable and exciting time in your life. There's no need to stress - it's meant to be fun so take your time and enjoy the experience!" She also offers some planning advice: "Get a scrapbook, make a list of what you most definitely want or need and then list the desirables. Go to wedding fairs, browse Pinterest and wedding magazines for ideas - but remember, there's plenty you can do and create yourself! Finally, create a budget and do your best to stick to it. Ensure you keep on top of this and you'll be stress-free!"
