Katie and Bobby's musical first meeting took place at the Carling Academy in London where he was playing in a band. "It was love at first sight!" enthuses Katie. "We spent the whole evening chatting. I was instantly 'chief groupie' and my best friend and I followed the band on tour!"
Five years later, the couple were on holiday in St Ives when - on the longest day of the year - Bobby popped the question with the help of their trusty Jack Russell who carried a leopard print plastic ring on a heart-shaped pillow on his collar before Bobby presented Katie with the real engagement ring.
Returning to the coastal setting of their engagement, the couple chose The Carbis Bay Hotel as their wedding venue, opting for a 'hot pink and bling' themed beachside bash.
Katie teamed her ivory satin gown with a bouquet of hot pink and cream blooms; the look tied in perfectly with the pink bridesmaid dresses and colour-pop sashes on the flower girls' white frocks, which, along with the groom's party's ties, were made by Katie's best friend.
The moment Katie made her grand entrance to Adele's 'Make You Feel My Love' proved a highlight of the day. "Seeing my Dad on the landing coming to get me, then walking through the sunny conservatory to see Bobby there waiting and seeing his face when he saw me," counts as her favourite reflections from their fun-filled day.
Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed canapes and drinks on the sun-spilled terraces and downtime on the beach before the newly-weds "danced into dinner to Stevie Wonder's 'Signed, Sealed, Delivered'". There, a 'grand buffet' was presented, including the delicious likes of beef, turkey, gammon, salmon, prawns, salads and a tailor-made Bailey's torte.
Katie then surprised her husband with a mouth-watering wedding gift: an ice cream van from Mr B's, which went down a treat with the guests. A giant pink and ivory confetti-filled balloon being popped over the pair to Carly Simon's 'Nobody Does It Better' kick-started the evening celebrations, which also featured a photo booth and sky lanterns being released from the beach at midnight.
How did the couple achieve such a stellar day? "Be organised!" Katie affirms. "Make things yourself to save money; this gives bridesmaids and family members the opportunity to be part of the preparations. Also, keep an ongoing budget checker and book things as early as you can". And perhaps most importantly, she adds, "Enjoy every second, including the planning, as it goes so fast!"
