Wedding at Knightor, Cornwall

Having grown up in the village of Luxulyan together, Sara and Ross have known each other since they were just four years old - though Sara admits she had never imagined marrying her friend's older brother. "After not seeing him for years he joined my brother's football team and love blossomed from there," she reveals.



Poignantly setting the wedding date to coincide with their nine-year anniversary, the pair planned a highly personal celebration at Knightor Winery. "It was perfect: romantic, intimate and rustic - everything we wanted in a wedding venue!" explains Sara.



A vintage glam theme, featuring lots of glassware and accents of navy, silver, hessian and lace, set the dazzling mood. "We made a lot of our decorations. My sister spent hours making bunting and table runners, and I turned sugar bowls and glasses into candles. I wanted a romantic feel to the room, so had lots of candles on all the tables," says Sara. Medleys of white tulips - the bride's favourite blooms - also featured heavily in the table decor and the bridesmaids' bouquets, while Sara added family and friends' jewellery to her DIY bridal brooch bouquet for a pretty and personal touch.



Following the ceremony, and keen to capture their shared childhood memories from the area, the couple relocated for photos along the train track and valley at Luxulyan as guests whetted their appetites with Prosecco, Corona and canapes. The wedding feast that followed included sweet cherry tomato soup, goat's cheese tart, pork loin and sea bass, rounded off with mojito cheesecake and chocolate tart.





A carnival of fairy lights and candles created an enchanting ambience for the evening reception. A set by singer Shane Solomon was followed by a lively disco of guests' party track requests, while the wedding cake and a range of paellas "went down a treat" with revellers.



Looking back, Sara pinpoints her favourite memory as "walking down the aisle to my hubby to be, and knowing I was soon to be Mrs Turton!" She is also replete with advice for other couples. "It's your day, so do what you want and have want you want," she asserts. "Also, sit back and take a few minutes to look around at all your family and friends having an amazing day: it's a picture in my head that I will always remember."
