Nancarrow Farm was the perfect venue for Em and Gav's autumnal wedding. "We went to see Nancarrow Farm when it was half completed, walked into the space - and fell in love!" reveals Em. "It was exactly what we wanted, especially as it gave us the option for a few people to stay over so that everyone was super-chilled - it just worked perfectly!"
A celebration crammed with personal details, Em and Gav's beloved dog, Meir, acted as ring bearer, and donned a special harness made by Em's dad so she could successfully carry the rings down the aisle.
Em's outfit, on the other hand, proved to be a trickier brief to fulfil. "I wanted something completely different and individual: something I could help to create," she explains. After a number of fruitless shopping trips, she came across Sophie from E and W Design at a wedding fair and fell in love with a dress at her Cardiff studio the next day. Deciding to modify it to incorporate a gorgeous silk print, the result was a beautifully bespoke piece of bridal wear. "The finished design surpassed anything I had in my mind," says Em. Together with Gav's maroon tweed suit and waistcoat, the bride and groom's attire couldn't have worked more beautifully for the time of year and their country venue.
The flowers were a key component in creating the mood of the day. "We wanted the flowers to be natural, rustic and almost twig-like," explains Em. "The colours were so rich and autumnal and went perfectly with my dress - and hair as it turned out!" The theme was accentuated with a set of antlers, which, alongside a floral arch, made a gorgeous focal point for the ceremony, while the table arrangements and details such as glass jars with wooden bases completed the rustic look.
Em walked down the aisle in her custom-made couture to friends Elle and Luke's vocal rendition of Paramore's 'The Only Exception.' Exiting to Florence and the Machine's 'You've got the Love' was another highlight "because everyone was singing and cheering!" reminisces Em.
Opting for simple, locally sourced food, guests enjoyed rounds of tasty tapas and welcome drinks followed by pork belly and chocolate and pear cake. "The flavours were incredible and everyone said how amazing the food was," comments Em.
There was also a late night supper of melt-in-the-mouth hot beef brisket rolls that guests tucked into outside surrounded by romantic festoon lights - complete with tunes from Fistral Stereo filling the air, it proved a fitting end to an enchanting day.
