Harriet and Jon first met through friends at a New Year's Eve party. Nine years later, a surprise weekend in Paris saw Jon propose near the Eiffel Tour, prompting plans for their cool and kicked-back party.
"We wanted a really relaxed, informal day so we didn't really have a single colour scheme. Everything was slightly mismatched but it totally worked when it was all put together," explains Harriet.
Opting for a modern '60s inspired look for her hair and make-up, Harriet wore a dreamy Ellis Bridals gown and carried a mixed bouquet of cream, peach and pink flowers with succulents and craspedias, which echoed her floral hair clip.
Flanked by six bridesmaids in coral pink dresses accessorised with pretty bouquets and hair clips of cream hydrangeas, Harriet walked down the aisle of Penryn Town Hall to The Beatles' classic 'Here Comes The Sun'. Jon was also dressed to impress in a blue Ted Baker suit teamed with a light blue shirt and tan brogues.
"The ceremony itself was even better than we had hoped for and was so informal, but still very special as we both felt so loved by all our friends and family. Walking up the aisle towards Jon and saying our vows were our absolute favourite moments," comments Harriet.
Exiting to Stevie Wonder's 'Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I'm Yours', the pair relocated to Tomperrow Scout Campsite for their reception. Decorated with strips of different coloured fabrics, fairy lights and long handmade wooden tables, their marquee featured a fabulous range of quirky mismatched crockery, cutlery and vintage cake stands.
"The overall look and feel of the day was exactly what we wanted and felt very individual to us," says Harriet. "We loved the combination of the fabric decorations and fairy lights in the marquee. A lot of the guests hadn't noticed the fairy lights during the day so it was a nice surprise to turn them on once the sun went down and it looked very romantic."
Guests relaxed in the sunshine, drinking Prosecco and munching on smoked cheese and smoked fish canapes before a sumptuous sit-down meal featuring a barbecue of halloumi and tomato skewers, homemade burgers, lamb kofta kebabs and spicy chicken kebabs. Cheesecakes and chocolate brownies made for a mouth-watering finale.
The evening presented a live set by Joss White and the Klicks - who kicked off with the first dance to Ben E. King's 'Stand By Me' - rounded off with up-tempo tracks from a specially compiled playlist.
Armed with wisdom from her wedding planning experience, Harriet advises: "Try not to get lost in all the tiny details; keep one eye on the big picture and the main things that matter to you both, otherwise you will drive yourselves mad (and bankrupt!) fixating on every detail. We knew we wanted a very informal, relaxed day so we tried to keep this in our minds when planning the venue, marquee, food, drink and entertainment."
