Steve whisked Jo to Cornwall - her favourite place in the UK - to pop the question on bonfire night. When his initial plans to propose during a fireworks display on the beach went awry thanks to the weather, he waited until the next day when they were taking a stroll through some rain-soaked gardens, which failed to dampen Jo's elation. "He had to ask for my answer again as I was squealing so loudly he missed it!" she reveals.
Deciding upon the venue was easy. "After the proposal we knew Cornwall was the place to get married - we wanted a beach, the sea and a stunning venue," explains Jo. "The second we stepped into Polhawn Fort down those spiral stairs we were blown away: we had found our fairytale venue and booked it there and then."
Opting for a palette of pale pink, ivory and gold, the day's details oozed a soft, romantic elegance, from the pretty arrangements of pink and ivory blooms to Jo's gorgeous fishtail gown.
Despite weather reports to the contrary, the morning clouds lifted and the sun came out perfectly on cue for their ceremony in the summerhouse. "Walking out to see the sun beaming over the sea and all our guests and Steve waiting is a moment that will stay with me forever," Jo reminisces.
Guests basked in the sun and supped on champagne before tucking into a sumptuous barbecue of king prawns, traditional sausages, gourmet burgers, Cajun spiced pork and apple kebabs and spiced lamb kofta.
In the evening, DJ Anthony Parella took to the decks. "We had requested an old school garage set which our guests absolutely loved and got everyone up to party the night away," says Jo.
"We couldn't have asked for a more spectacular day," she continues. "Everyone felt like they were abroad and had a lovely time relaxing and taking in the views of the waves glistening in the sun."
On the subject of weather, Jo advises, "Always have a Plan B if your wedding is outside, you just never know what our UK weather will hold! And if you don't have a wedding planner, draw up a schedule of the day with every little detail and make sure the best man and bridesmaids have a copy; that way, you can enjoy your day without worrying about anything."
