Amy and Sam threw a flower-filled country wedding at Swallowtails

Childhood sweethearts Amy and Sam got engaged in memorable style at the top of the Rockefeller Centre In New York on her birthday. "It was a beautiful morning with clear blue skies," she recalls.

Armed with a clear idea of how they wanted their celebration to look from the start, the couple opted for a "pretty pastel Cornish country vintage wedding" that was hosted at a family friend's farm just outside Mawnan Smith.

Every detail was designed to reflect the theme, and Amy spent extra time and attention on one her favourite aspects of the day: the flowers. "This was the most exciting part of the wedding for me - I love flowers!" she enthuses. "I wanted to create a natural effect that looked like someone had run through a wild meadow and scooped up a bunch. I was so lucky to have such amazing friends who arranged all the flowers including the fabulous milk churns, jam jars and watering cans."

The perfect accessory for her dreamy gown, Amy's bouquet featured peonies, David Austin roses, astrantia, gypsophila, pink and white astilbe and sweet peas. Her bridesmaids completed the pretty picture, donning sleek Ghost dresses in a medley of soft colours. Keen to make a sartorial statement of their own, Sam and his groomsmen teamed their dapper suits with bow ties and superhero socks!

After their church ceremony, Amy and Sam ventured off in a VW campervan for some beachside photos with the wedding party before arriving at the reception for ice cream and drinks. Everyone then settled into the marquee for an afternoon tea wedding breakfast where the wedding cake - an elaborate creation by Emily Hankins - stole the show. "It exceeded all expectations, it was literally a work of art!" says Amy. Comprising 150 hand-painted teacups, the cake proved a particular talking point amongst guests, many of whom didn't even realise the teacups were edible. "The attention to detail was incredible. They also tasted amazing; the surprise jam in the middle was delicious!"

Cornish pasties fuelled the evening fun, which saw The Heat filling the dance floor with a lively set. "Dancing to 'Isn't She Lovely?' by Stevie Wonder and the band changing the words to 'Amy's so lovely'," stands out as one of the moments Amy cherishes the most, as does: "Seeing Sam's smile when I walked down the aisle and driving to the church in the campervan down the Cornish country lanes with my dad and bridesmaids."

Looking back, the couple believe they achieved their vision of a country wedding with a personal, homespun feel - from the homegrown confetti, decorations, place cards, table plan and signage to the bunting made by Amy's granny - thanks to a team effort. "How lucky we were when so many friends, villagers and family willingly helped along the way!" she says.
