Kirsty and Josh didn't let a little thing like a torrential downpour put a dampener on their bright and colourful big day

Kirsty first laid eyes on Josh when he attended her 21st birthday party as someone else's plus-one. "We got on straight away and Josh 'accidentally' left his jumper so that he had to return at a later date!" she laughs.

Years later, the couple were holidaying in Cornwall when Josh decided to pop the question at a special destination he had been visiting since he was a toddler: the beautiful realms of Porthcothan Bay Beach.

"We walked down to the sea and Josh asked me to marry him, then we visited Truro to purchase the ring together," Kirsty recalls. "We holiday in Cornwall several times every year now."

Choosing a venue overlooking the ocean was a natural and fitting choice for the couple, who instantly fell in love with The Atlantic Hotel in Newquay. "We were wowed by the venue and decor, and it had an amazing view," explains Kirsty. "We just knew it was right."

Selecting a gorgeous blue and yellow sunflower colour scheme to mirror their "summery beach theme", the details throughout the venue perfectly conveyed the overall look and feel of their bright, sea-inspired day.

Treating guests' palates to the delicious likes of chocolate strawberry canapes followed by smoked salmon tartlet, homemade vegetable soup, beef Wellington, lemon mousse, and coffee and petit fours, Kirsty and Josh ensured the event was a top tasting affair.

Though the heavens opened for the duration of their day, a brief break in the rain allowed the newly-weds to venture outside and enjoy a photo shoot on Fistral Beach, which proved to be one of their personal highlights and provided them with some stunning shots.

"Don't let little things that you can't control like the weather worry you!" announces Kirsty in retrospect. "Just enjoy every second as it will go so quickly. And plan well ahead of time to avoid any stress," she urges other couples.
