Zara and Craig go way back - to secondary school in fact. "I fancied him like crazy!" says Zara. "However, he was a few years older and despite what he says I don't think he ever noticed me." Romance blossomed for the pair a few years later, when their best friends started going out together, culminating in a starry-eyed proposal at The Headland Hotel where Craig presented Zara with a ring before celebrating with bubbly overlooking the ocean.
They fell for the scenic rural setting of The Green and opted for a colour scheme of navy blue and baby pink, which perfectly complemented the groom's dapper navy uniform.
The dress, however, presented a bit of a quandary for Zara. "From the moment Craig proposed, I knew I wanted to wear Jenny Packham," she explains. "But two months after I purchased my dress we discovered I was pregnant, which meant I would be six months pregnant walking up the aisle and that my dress would no longer fit!"
On choosing a bump-friendly Twobirds dress, Zara's thoughts turned to accessories. "I wanted one of their headdresses so that I still felt I was wearing Jenny; however, with only one month before our wedding, Craig felt we didn't have the spare cash." Unbeknown to Zara, Craig had arranged to borrow one, presenting her with it on the morning of their wedding as a thoughtful surprise gift.
The Green's Wedding Barn was adorned with pretty clusters of soft pink, peach and cream blooms, strings of bunting and fairy lights. "Walking in with my dad and seeing everyone I love looking back at me and smiling was my favourite moment," reveals Zara. "My dad kept trying to slow me down but I just couldn't wait to get to the end of that aisle and marry the man I love!"
Pimm's and canapes followed the ceremony, where guests basked in the sunshine on the lawn to the stellar soundtrack of talented singer-songwriter Kaj.
Relocating to the Green Room for the wedding breakfast, guests were greeted with the lip-smacking likes of pan-fried scallops, slow cooked lamb shank and banoffee pie.
In the evening, Rhythm Roulette served up an eclectic mix of tunes, while a photo booth provided oodles of crowd-pleasing moments. "The guests loved dressing up and we got some amazing fun photos!" comments Zara.
Echoing advice from many newly-weds, Zara encourages couples to forget their guests for a short while to spend time with each other away from the hubbub of the day: "Take time out to soak it all in and enjoy some alone time together. During the drinks reception, I managed to steal my husband away for a lovely stroll down to the duck pond. I'm so glad we did because that was the only time I got to be alone with him for the whole day!"
