Wedding at Trevenna, Cornwall

Chloe first met Sam during their summer holidays from university when they were both working seasonal jobs at Polzeath Beach. 'We were friends for two years before our relationship grew, with Sam even mentioning being 'friend-zoned' in the early days in his speech!' reveals Chloe.

Polzeath provided the picturesquely apt location for Sam's proposal when he chose a cold and sun-spilled November morning to embark upon one of their favourite coastal walks to Pentire Point. 'As we were enjoying the views over Polzeath and out to sea Sam got down on one knee and popped the question!' recalls Chloe.

The couple chose to get married at St Michael's Church in Porthilly ' 'It was really important to us to have our ceremony there as it was so close to where we first met and got engaged,' explains Chloe. Selecting Trevenna for their reception venue was another easy decision. 'From the minute we arrived we knew it was where we wanted to bring all our family and friends together to celebrate our marriage,' says Chloe. 'It's the perfect setting!'

Though their wedding date was close to Christmas, the pair opted out of a yuletide-themed wedding in favour of a lavender theme with purples, grey and green, which was carried in an array of details from the lavender scented invitations to favours of homemade lavender candles and bunches of lavender in the bouquets, buttonholes and fresh garlands on the trestle tables. 'We did have little touches of Christmas though with a huge bunch of mistletoe over the dance floor and a few classic Christmas songs in the evening!' adds Chloe.

The tweed suits worn by the groom and his groomsmen also featured lavender ties and pocket squares, while Chloe was flanked in her stunning dress by bridesmaids in beautiful 'lavender fog' gowns.

On arrival at Trevenna, Mountain Ash performed in the Threshing Barn whilst guests tucked into arrival drinks and canapÃ©s ahead of a feast of chicken breast and pork tenderloin with all the trimmings, completed by a divine trio of desserts. 'Our favourite moment has to be sitting to have our meal and looking around the room filled with all our family and friends laughing, smiling and enjoying themselves. It's a lovely feeling to know they are all there to celebrate you both and your marriage,' says Chloe.

The evening's mixture of sweet treats and DJ entertainment proved another highlight ('the little ones absolutely loved toasting their own marshmallows and making their own s'mores!'), but it was a few stolen moments in nature that gave Chloe and Sam their most magical memories.

'Not only were we lucky enough to have a beautiful sunny day in December, with a stunning sunrise as we were getting ready, but what was extra special was later in the evening we witnessed the most beautiful moonrise! The moon looked huge and was emerging from the moors. It was amazing to watch it rise ' something we had never experienced before!'

'Try to relax and enjoy the process,' she offers as her top tip to other couples. 'Give yourselves plenty of time so you don't have to rush anything, just do little and often and before you know it, everything is in place! And don't worry about the day, it all comes together so perfectly so the little things you worried about don't even matter and it's just the best day of your lives!'
