Dreamy dresses against a wild Atlantic backdrop for inspiration with an otherworldy edge
Nothing smacks of wild romance quite like the wave-lashed rocks and wind-whipped waters of west Cornwall's ruggedly beautiful seascapes. Combine that with some of the most lust-worthy gowns and the result is a fashion editorial replete with eye candy of the most pulse-quickening kind.
"Priest's Cove is one of those unique places that you only find in Cornwall," says shoot co-ordinator and make-up artist, Gemma Campbell. "It is a rugged rocky beach with the remains of the Victorian mining industry all around and fishermen's sheds overgrown with wild flowers. My late grandad's shed is one of those. In my family, it's the place that generation after generation has learnt to swim and where we spend most of our sunshine days."
"During lockdown this was once again the place to reflect and recharge," she continues. "I knew we could shoot here with no props needed, the land speaks for itself. It was an opportunity for some ladies to get together and collaborate doing what they love, utilising the natural light and the colours reflecting from the dreamy seascape. I think the beauty of these images is in their simplicity."
Achieving a natural look through pared-back make-up with a luxe romantic twist featuring deep berry lips and dark smoky eyes, the palette was picked up in the beautiful bridal bouquet, where neutrals were spliced with similar colour pop shades.
Then there's the accessories, with two custom-made looks worn with spellbinding flair: a show-stopping bejewelled crown and gold leaf-patterned headpiece providing the fabulous finishing touches to the brides' exquisite ensembles.
Speaking of which, the to-die-for dresses are another example of the voguish feel of the shoot, with a fitted sequinned sheath with spaghetti straps modelled alongside a stunning A-line gown with light-as-air skirt and floral lace top. Braving the sea pool, the models were able to explore the watery medium alongside another set of fashions courtesy of a deep-plunge blue gown and high necked lace sheath, whose ethereal qualities were illustrated to ultra dreamy effect.
