Natural beauty or glamour puss? On W-day, go with what makes you feel your most beautiful. Here's some cruelty-free beauty inspiration to get you started
ETHEREAL BEAUTY
If you're seeking a natural look for W-day, this minimalist but pretty vibe may be just the ticket. Hair and make-up specialist Ione Kutz used a hydrating NYX Hydra Touch Primer all over the face, followed by e.l.f. Foundation Serum, which is a great buildable foundation. If you have good skin or freckles and you're looking for a photo-ready finish, only use a thin layer. If you'd like a fuller coverage, then apply a little more.
L.A. Girl Pro Concealers was used to brighten under the eyes and conceal any blemishes. To set the face, Ione used e.l.f. HD Powder, concentrating on the T-zone. For a natural glow, apply a small amount of highlighter to the tops of the cheekbones, brow bones, along the centre of the nose, the cupid's bow and the corner of the eyes.
Ione simply used an eyebrow gel and brushed the eyebrows into place to keep them looking natural. For the eyes, she applied Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer in Eden and a cream eye shadow to set it, followed by Illamasqua Precision Gel Liner applied close to the lash line to make the lashes look thicker at the base. Finally, she curled the lashes and applied a waterproof mascara (essential if you want that curl to last!), then added a slick of Illamasqua Glamore Lipstick in Starkers and a touch of bronzer and blusher.
As the make-up was so simple, Ione went all out with the hair, creating a fishtail halo. The addition of small white flowers adds a whimsical vibe to the look.
RED CRUSH
The make-up here is identical to 'Ethereal Beauty' with a few simple tweaks. Ione used Sangers by Illamasqua for the romantic red lip and a little more highlight was added to the corners of the eyes and cupid's bow to create a more glowing complexion.
Ione decided to team the bold red lip with a natural look for the hair. After curling, she simply brushed out the curls to make them look more bouncy. Not only is this look easy to recreate, it requires little maintenance throughout the day.
SMOKY IS THE NIGHT
It's a growing trend for brides to add a little more drama to their evening look. Here, Ione created a smoky eye using shades of brown and gold - perfect for making blue eyes really pop. She balanced out the smoky eye with a more neutral lip colour, using NYX Lip Lingerie in Bedtime Flirt.
For the hair, Ione created two small fishtail braids and joined them at the back for a look that is as practical as it is pretty - allowing you to wear bouncy waves without them falling in your face when you hit the dance floor. Win win.
WING IT
If 'Smoky is the Night' isn't quite dramatic enough for you, then simply add a winged liner. And if you're planning on doing some serious dancing, why not swoop all that hair up into a low chignon?
