A wedding scene rich in seasonal romance, this styled shoot sees The Lost Gardens of Heligan styled with elegant autumnal décor to create an otherworldly picture of wedding paradise.
The couple explore off-the-beaten-track spaces – from the serene Italian Garden to the majestic Ravine – to create an ambience of wild and hidden beauty. “I really wanted to use some of the more unique and unusual parts of the gardens to showcase Heligan in a way that may not have been seen before,” explains photographer Hannah Jenkins of Rabbit House Studio Photography.
“I wanted to showcase the colours in the garden at that time of year; to really immerse ourselves in some of the beautiful flora, fauna and architecture, making use of areas in the garden that really highlight intimate secluded spaces, as well as some of our key wedding locations,” elaborates Louise Eade of Heligan.
A handfasting ceremony amongst the trees evokes Mother Nature, the sight and spirit of which continues to be conveyed through the detail – from the floral arrangements and artwork to the stationery and tablescapes. A unity candle ceremony in the Folly sees a smattering of hurricane candles, drapes, ribbons and blooms adorning the archway, which flows into the al fresco reception space.
Situated under the leafy Apple Arch, the intimate wedding breakfast is a sense-spoiling affair, with stripped-back wooden furniture, clear glassware and plain white table settings spliced with ornate gold candlesticks, warm brown and amber vases with sprigs of dried flowers and painted pillar candles all adding depth, texture and colour. A hanging floral and ribbon centrepiece completes the country-boho look, while a tiered painted cake creates a wow-worthy centrepiece that beautifully ties the details together.
Ethereal wedding wardrobes with a touch of glamour perfectly complement the setting. Featuring a classic strapless corset-style gown with floral embroidery, a stunning pair of backless gowns with plunging necklines and a fitted, long-sleeved column epitomising modern minimalism, the result is as timelessly whimsical as it is voguishly on point.
