Spring fling

Inspired by her love of spring and the romanticism of the season, photographer Rebecca Hook dreamed up the concept for this beautiful shoot at Enys, with its Mansion House and historic gardens. “Romanticism and femininity generally go hand in hand, and I wanted to capture that through the softness of the fabrics, the delicate bouquet of sweet peas and the all-female owned suppliers used,” she explains. 
 
The florals are key to creating the dreamy spring scene. “We used small bowls and created a playful balance of interesting and classic blooms,” she says. “This adds depth and complexity as well as providing visual beauty; the ribbons introduce a bit of fun and texture.” 
 
At once timeless and modern, the dresses carry the aesthetic of romanticism via soft silhouettes and sheer details. From the silk organza dress layered over a satin slip to the sculptural tiered dress combining a delicate bodice and pretty spaghetti straps, the bridal ensembles are given an ethereal edge with sheer bows and embellished veils.
 
Vibrant artwork, playful stationery and a strawberry-dotted cake with wavy piping bring joyful – and artfully crafted – character to the venue. “The house is filled with so much charm, with its exposed plaster and impressive sash windows. The possibilities are endless when considering how to style the space as it offers a blank canvas but with bags of character,” says Rebecca. “Around every corner there is something new to discover and different seasons will provide their own benefits. For me, however, spring is when Enys comes alive with its abundant florals.” And this shoot illustrates the enchantment of the season beautifully.
