Manor house wedding venue Devon
Wedding spaces at Hareston Manor
It's no longer just a choice between a church or register office ceremony, as today's venues give couples fabulous carte blanche to pick from a variety of settings in which to utter their vows, from gorgeously stylish spaces to rooms with a view and array of outdoor options surrounded by nature.
Fan from Fanfare Weddings gives us the lowdown on Hareston Manor's myriad of ceremonial settings to help you discover exactly how to land on the where of your 'I dos'...
As a wedding celebrant the ceremonial spaces at wedding venues are bound to hold a special interest for me. None more so than at Hareston Manor, the venue for this beautifully styled shoot that I was fortunate to take part in.
Hareston Manor is nestled at the bottom of a leafy drive deep in the South Devon countryside and offers no less than five licensed wedding ceremony locations. There are also some other hidden areas that are unlicensed, all offering something different but equally special.
The intimate St Martin's Chapel situated alongside the main house dates back to 1379 and provides the most romantic of spaces for a micro wedding or elopement with seating up to 30 people. Historical architecture always lends a grandness to proceedings, and for an outside wedding the porch of the Manor House makes for a stunning backdrop.
For those looking for the more informal vibe there are some magical areas within the grounds. You may like the festival vibe, taking advantage of the far-reaching views down the valley, or you may prefer your ceremony to be beneath an elegant willow beside the pond overlooking Dartmoor.
Alternatively, your dream may be to exchange your vows within the natural mystical ampitheatre provided by woodland and trees lovingly planted by the owner: nothing beats a handfasting ceremony in such a setting.
Those mentioned are only the licensed ceremony areas. There unlicensed locations aplenty. The rose garden in the main courtyard offers another romantic outdoor space for an intimate ceremony, or under a beautiful old oak with views across to Dartmoor. And to round up all this choice, create a 'darling buds of may' vibe amongst the wildflowers in the orchard.
So much diversity, plus - if you had the personalisation of a celebrant-led ceremony - you simply cannot go wrong with a ceremony at Hareston Manor.
