ONE FINE DAY
When we planned our bridal fashion story, 'Love Struck', at Hotel Endsleigh, we pictured roaming the beautiful grounds, capturing our selection of gowns against the gorgeous nooks of the gardens on the cusp of spring. The light would be perfect, the promise of warmth in the air, the buds about to burst into life. What we didn't plan for was a storm battering the region with torrential rain and gale force winds! We decided to embrace what the elements threw at us - from the steely skies across the wooded valley, the strong gusts of wind and the wintery chill that our wonderful model braved. And the results are enchanting - full of drama and steely beauty.

It reminded me that sometimes things don't go according to plan but, so often, that's when the magic happens. It's a thought worth bearing in mind on your wedding day.
Now approaching our tenth anniversary issue here in Devon, we've had the fortune to cover many beautiful weddings over the years, everything from quirky-cool woodland weddings and laid-back seaside nuptials to incredibly elegant country house celebrations at Devon's most magnificent venues.
And, despite careful planning, many of these couples faced things not going quite the way they'd envisaged - from downpours during a beach wedding to a blizzard at a spring celebration. And, rather than let these unplanned events dampen their spirits, each of these couples embraced them and look back on those moments - whether it was heading out to the shore for windswept photographs while struggling to hold onto their umbrellas or trudging through snow to the church when traffic came to a standstill - as the ones they cherish the most.
As Cherie, whose plans for a garden ceremony on the edge of Dartmoor were scuppered by heavy rain, says: "With any luck, your wedding won't look anything like you imagined, it'll be better - just roll with everything...even the weather."
In these pages you'll find the beauty of the seasons celebrated through inspiration-packed styled shoots, from the heat of summer and its stunning seasonal flowers in 'Rose in Bloom' to a Scandi-inspired winter wedding in 'In the Deep Midwinter.'
And our wonderful real weddings take us from Kate and Will's magical Christmas wedding at the Deer Park to Katie and John's sun-drenched celebrations on the shores of Woolacombe. Each wedding is a celebration of the couples' love, family and personalities - and filled with a magic you simply can't plan for.
Enjoy!
Rebecca
