Ross proposed with the help of a very special prop indeed: the couple's one-year-old pointer puppy. "Ross attached a perfect solitaire to her collar!" reveals Sarah. "I couldn't work out why he was so nervous as Willow bound towards the waves as she normally did - it was only after she ran up to me to have some seaweed unravelled from her neck that I saw the ring!"
With the wedding celebrations taking place over a whole weekend, guests arrived a day ahead of the main event to settle into Tresillian House, a private country estate near Newquay. "With its quirky sunken en suite bathrooms, four-poster beds and converted 'cowshed' for our reception - it was perfect!" says Sarah.
"The kids found the trampoline, the adults found the walk-in champagne fridge and we all then headed to our favourite spot at Lusty Glaze for surfing and body boarding. We stayed there for the evening with supper and a live band to watch the sun go down on the eve of our wedding! Perfect."
A day of contrasting yet equally enchanting settings, the ceremony was staged in the underground backdrop of Carnglaze Caverns. "Walking into our sparkling lantern lit cavern to 'A Thousand Years' by Christina Perri was magical," reflects Sarah. The newly-weds then returned for a champagne and confetti reception at the house. "This was one of our favourite moments as the sun finally graced us with its presence," she recalls. "Everyone relaxed and spilled onto the lawn for some croquet while Ross and I slipped away for a private and memorable photo shoot in the orchard."
Returning to the elegantly styled scene in the 'cowshed', guests were greeted with hand tied dried lavender, fresh green potted herbs, jute table runners with jam jar candle lights in handmade table boxes - and a gourmet Cornish barbecue. Monkfish and pancetta skewers, crevettes with garlic and parsley butter, salt and Szechuan pepper steak, and butterfly leg of lamb were deliciously topped off by raspberry pavlovas with elderflower.
"Be true to yourselves," announces Sarah when asked for her planning advice. "Surround yourselves with only the people that mean the world to you and find yourself a like-minded photographer who will help you record your memories for ever."
"If you are brave enough to create your own wedding as we did, be sure to have a robust structured plan for the event that you can hand to your best man to deliver!" she adds. "This will allow you to relax and enjoy your day together."
