Stacey and Joel's wedding at The Alverton

Stacey and Joel’s love story began when they met at a local nightclub as teenagers, with Stacey’s best friend, Kiani, playing matchmaker. Years later, Joel orchestrated a romantic proposal during a clifftop picnic in Newquay. “It was a complete surprise but so perfect,” Stacey reminisces.

The couple chose to celebrate their marriage in the stunning Great Hall at The Alverton, a Grade II listed hotel in the heart of Truro. Opting for a classic palette of black, white and green, the elegant décor included towering centrepieces of crisp white blooms in pearl-filled glass vases, while a carnival of twinkling fairy lights added a magical glow, highlighting the venue’s striking architecture.

Joel looked dapper in a bespoke black suit and bow tie, while Stacey dazzled in an off-the-shoulder gown with sleeves. The couple exchanged vows during a ceremony at St Euny Church, where the stirring sounds of a gospel choir created an unforgettable atmosphere. “Our amazing vicar, Geoff, and the gospel choir made the ceremony so special,” says Stacey. “Seeing each other for the first time is a memory I will continue to relive forever!” she says, reflecting on the moment her eyes met Joel’s at the end of the aisle.

After the ceremony, the couple headed to the clifftops of St Agnes for photographs; with the sun glinting on the ocean as their backdrop, the couple relished this quiet time to soak up the emotion of the day before heading to The Alverton to begin the celebrations.

Gathering on the terrace, guests were greeted with an al fresco oyster bar offering fresh seafood and celebratory drinks. The culinary delights continued with a wedding breakfast featuring Cornish scallops, slow-cooked belly pork, trio of Westcountry beef, seafood linguini, banoffee cheesecake and white chocolate and Bailey's semifreddo. A showstopping five-tier cake adorned with cascading white roses was another delicious talking point.

The evening festivities began with heartfelt speeches, followed by Stacey and Joel’s first dance to John Legend’s A Good Night. Sister Sledge’s We Are Family then opened the dance floor, with Afro Soul – a soul, Motown and R’n’B band – performing an electrifying set that kept the party buzzing. The day ended on a high note with a spectacular fireworks display.

“We were on cloud nine the whole day; the emotions were overwhelming at times,” Stacey reflects.

“We felt so grateful for all our family and friends who had made such an effort to celebrate with us. When you look around and realise all the people in the room are here for you both – you could cry!”

Her advice for others in the midst of planning? “Enjoy yourselves and remember every moment! It really is the best day of your life! I wish more than anything we could do it all over again.”
