Love on the Lake

Sneha and Chirag's dreamy ceremony at Cornish Tipi Weddings

Sneha and Chirag have their mums to thank for their love story. “Both of our mums played matchmakers,” says Sneha. “After some initial stubbornness, we decided to message each other and once we did, we couldn’t stop! Our first date lasted 14 hours and it is, to this day, one of our most memorable dates.”

One year later, Chirag planned a holiday to Greece, setting the stage for a surprise proposal. “On the anniversary of our first date, I thought we were going for a nice evening meal,” says Sneha. “But little did I know Chirag had planned a beautiful beach proposal!”

Embracing the waterside setting of their proposal, Sneha and Chirag planned an intimate civil ceremony by the lake at Cornish Tipi Weddings, following their traditional Indian wedding in Italy. “We always wanted to get married near water – it was almost impossible to believe this setting existed in the UK. We had our hearts set on getting married there,” says Chirag.

Although the couple didn’t set a colour scheme, a serendipitous touch saw all their female guests wearing pink summery dresses, complementing the arrangements of soft pink blooms that framed the vows. “It was really important to us to get married on the anniversary of our engagement,” explains Sneha. “It was something that was non-negotiable, which meant we had just weeks to plan everything once the venue was booked!”

Their beloved dog, Cinnamon, was the ring-bearer, adding an adorable and personal element to the day. “The ceremony was so full of love. All we remember is constantly smiling,” say the couple. “We don’t get to share personal vows at an Indian wedding so writing the vows and commitments to one another was a particular special moment for us.”

After exchanging their vows by the lake’s serene blue-green waters, Sneha and Chirag rowed across the lake for photographs. “We had so much fun taking these photos, even though we quickly discovered that we lack the basic skills to row!” laughs Chirag. “We were so lucky to have amazing weather, with the sun reflecting off the water. It honestly felt like a dream.”

Guests enjoyed drinks and a DIY snack table at the pavilion while the couple had some quiet time together. The celebrations continued with a champagne toast and first dance, before everyone headed to Tintagel’s Port William pub for a meal. “We ended the day watched a beautiful sunset at the beach,” reminisces Chirag. “We loved how small and intimate our wedding was. Nothing felt rushed and we had moments to ourselves to really take it all in.”

Looking back, Sneha offers advice for other couples. “If you have your heart set on particular vendors, then book them early. There were a few things we wanted that we couldn’t have, due to our last-minute booking. However, choosing Cornish Tipi Weddings was the best decision we could have made. The venue was so unique and stunning – it truly made the day unforgettable.”
