Sheree and Josh's wedding at Trelowarren

Sheree and Josh met at university in Lincoln back in 2010, blossoming into a romance that led to a surprise proposal in St Ives in 2023.

The search for a venue began and the couple soon fell for the historic charm of Trelowarren Estate on the Lizard Peninsula. “The decadence and style of Trelowarren really appealed to us,” Sheree explains. “Its history and beauty felt so unique – unlike anything we’d seen before. We knew our guests would love it as much as we did.”

Their celebrations unfolded over a weekend, starting with a low-key legal ceremony on the Friday afternoon in Trelowarren’s library. Close family joined the couple as they exchanged vows in the intimate setting, with Sheree donning an elegant ivory trouser suit for the occasion. The couple stayed in the main house the night before, beginning their weekend with a grand breakfast for two. “It was very special waking up together in such a beautiful place,” says Sheree.

Friday night brought a lively start to the main festivities as Sheree stayed with her bridesmaids in the house. “This was such a fun way to kick off the celebrations on the Saturday morning,” she shares.

With the help of the team at Out of the Ordinary Weddings, who coordinated and styled the day, Sheree and Josh’s vision was brought to life with effortless elegance. A palette of neutrals and greens complemented the atmospheric beauty of Trelowarren, with the barn adorned with cream flowers nestled amidst lush foliage, cut glass crystal glassware and glass beaded charger plates. “The black tie theme worked perfectly, creating a glamorous and sophisticated feel,” says Sheree.

Sheree walked down the aisle of Trelowarren’s light-filled chapel in an exquisite Alexandra Grecco gown, flanked by her bridesmaids in deep green dresses. “The ceremony was our favourite part of the day,” she reflects. “Walking down the aisle to violins playing Annie’s Song by John Denver was very emotional and a really special moment. It was such an intimate ceremony, with personalised vows and traditional Cornish folk greetings conducted by Cornish Celebrants.”

Following the ceremony, guests spilled onto the lawn for drinks and canapés in the September sunshine. A three-course feast in the barn followed, featuring monkfish, fillet of beef and the couple’s favourite dessert: sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream.

A nod to their first concert together, Sheree and Josh chose Grow Old With Me by Tom Odell for their first dance. Funk and soul classics from live band Central Avenue kept the dance floor packed into the small hours, while guests enjoyed Aperol Spritz and late-night Cornish pasties.

Looking back on their weekend of festivities in this special place, Sheree describes the day as a dream come true. “Getting ready on-site in the morning with all my bridesmaids, spying on the guests arriving and the sun shining so brightly for us – these moments stand out so vividly in my memory,” she says.

And her advice for couples in the midst of planning? “Set aside time to go through everything together every couple of weeks – ideally over brunch out of the house!”
