One of the many draws of a tipi celebration is its versatility: whether you favour pared-back styling or a 'more is more' riot of colour and personality-packed décor, canvas makes the perfect backdrop for a brilliantly individual wedding.
The latter approach is favoured in this styled shoot, the design mixing vibrant colour and modern geometrics to eye-catching effect in the picturesque setting of Tawstock Court in North Devon. 'The shoot combines punchy pinks, architectural floristry and geometrics with World Inspired Tents' stunning tipis,' explains stylist and coordinator of the shoot, Bridget Scott of Blue Fizz Events.
The floristry is a key component, carrying the colour palette and strong shapes via the structural arrangements of succulents and blooms. 'The oversized bouquets and large centrepieces were carried through in the styling of the seating plans, with their colour accents referenced through geometric decorations and structures scattered through the space,' says Bridget. 'Roses cascaded through palms, pampas grasses and succulents to give the venue a fresh desert vibe.' Additional plants, huge palms, succulents and cacti added to the scene, 'inviting guests to relax in an immersive and calming garden of colour and style,' she adds.
The tablescape sees pink glassware nestle gold cutlery and candlesticks. 'I made long runners in a vibrant geometric linen and used my handmade napkins alongside geometric crockery,' says Bridget. The stationery echoes the aesthetic, accenting the same dark greens of the cacti with touches of gold, creatively suspended on wire under the canopy of the floral arrangements. Finished with pink flowers and gold metallic shapes, the cake also carries a geometric design.
'The bar made a real showpiece in the tipi,' says Bridget. 'I hung huge painted triangles from the tipis at ascending heights with large flower displays that completed the look.'
From the trumpet-style dress, combining a lace overlay and cut-away detail, to shimmering make-up and a relaxed plait, the bridal style mixes a classic look with a relaxed, contemporary mood. Elegant Devon-made jewellery completes the look, while the groom's open-neck shirt and bold pink trousers ensures a fresh and coolly laid-back vibe for a party to remember deep in the Devon countryside.
