There's something about a winter wedding that stirs the soul. Evoking a sense of drama with moody skies and unpredictable weather fronts, the mere idea of bracing - and embracing - the tempestuous season enlivens the senses.

Winter weddings have never been so popular, perhaps because of these very notions - along with the opportunity to push the envelope with everything from the decor to the dress in the most individual of ways. Couples can design a day full of personal detail, cosy touches and a sense of abandon, fusing a little luxe with a stripped-back approach for a palpably au naturel, yet magical air.

This recent shoot captures wedding world's winter wedding ethos perfectly. The location of Lusty Glaze beach on the rugged north Cornish coast is enchanting enough, but add to that a spellbinding reception space and en vogue ensembles and it's easy to see the appeal of an off-season wedding by the sea.

Inside, tabletops adorned with gold candlesticks, metallic-effect tea light holders, ornate wine goblets and a scattering of white petals evoke an effortlessly chic aesthetic. This is complemented by a stunning mixture of fresh and dried florals in neutral and earthy tones spliced with lush green foliage that is beautifully carried in everything from the bouquet and buttonhole to the tablescapes and a smattering of potted plants both big and small. Large hurricane lanterns, suspended edison bulbs and strings of fairy lights all serve to enhance the venue's inviting ambience.

Outside, the couple relish a dazzlingly bright day with a stroll along the shoreline and a mini bonfire on the beach, capturing both their loved-up newly wed status and uber scenic surrounds to stunning effect.

Dressed in a debonair two-piece blue windowpane suit and navy blue tie, the groom exudes laidback beach style, while the bride is a vision of modern vintage romance with an A-line gown featuring long tulle sleeves, a delicate floral embroidered bodice and portrait back finished with flowing tresses and a floral crown.
