Although they both grew up in Hayle and attended the same primary and secondary schools, it wasn’t until their later teenage years that Tiri and Jordan became a couple after spending time together at the local skate park.
A decade later, Jordan came home from work one day and insisted the family went to the beach together. “He drove us to Porthleven and we walked to Loe Bar,” recalls Tiri. “Jordan and our eldest son, Theo, were ahead of us and had stopped and waited for Bruce, our youngest son, and me to catch up. Jordan was down on one knee and Theo showed me the box with the most beautiful ring in. It was the easiest yes I have ever said. Then we walked to Loe Bar beach and sat on the sand watching the sun set.”
Flanked by countryside, Stennack Farm offered the blank canvas setting the couple were seeking. Selecting a minimalist aesthetic and colour scheme of warm neutral tones, the stunning floristry captured Tiri’s vision perfectly, featuring petals in shades of toffee and latte. She also sourced cheesecloth runners and napkins, made single stem flower holders and designed their seating plan and welcome signs to complete the stylish scene.
“All we wanted to do was have fun with our family and friends and get drunk as we hadn't all been together for so long,” says Tiri. “After the ceremony we decided to have the welcome drinks and get the speeches out of the way so we could go wild!” A selection of pizzas went down a treat, ranging from margherita and barbecue chicken to vegan pomodoro, before the sun came out for the arrival of Mr B’s ice cream van playing ‘Here Comes The Bride’. “I have worked for Mr B’s for years, so I loved making the ice cream for our own wedding,” she says of the lip-smacking finale to the feast.
Music was another key component to the day, with musicians Archie Ray and Pete Hamilton both delivering atmospheric sets. Saxophonist Daniel Costello switched up the tempo ahead of a DJ set that saw guests on the dancefloor until midnight.
“Our first dance was to ‘Never Too Much’ by Luther Vandross – played by Daniel on the sax – then everyone joined in,” says Tiri, recalling her favourite moment from the day, after which she reveals her top tips for other couples.
“Remember the day is for you two – just have fun and do what you want to do,” she says. “We just wanted to do the ‘I dos’ then get drinking, dancing and having fun. We wanted our guests to feel relaxed and the children to run around and eat as much ice cream and pizza as they wanted!”
