'I always went on about being proposed to in Paris as it is such a romantic city and, after four years, he took me there on my birthday and proposed under the Eiffel Tower,' she says of her dream proposal in the City of Love.
Armed with a clear vision and venue location, Sophie knew she wanted to get married in Cornwall, near where she grew up. 'We saw Tredudwell Manor on the internet and arranged to see it. Unfortunately, that weekend it snowed so we couldn't make it down from Bristol, so my parents went to view it instead,' she explains.
'It looked great from what I could see through the phone so we told them to book it as they had our date available! When we eventually went to view Tredudwell Manor, it was a million times better seeing it in person.'
Providing the perfect blank canvas for the couple to create their beautiful blush pink wedding scene, the reception space was styled with pretty blooms and metallic accents. Flanked by the picture-perfect grounds, the ceremony temple also gave them the option of a breathtaking al fresco ceremony ' 'which is what we ended up doing as the weather was beautiful on the day', says Sophie.
The handmade décor added a personal touch to the styling. 'I made all the invitations myself and my mum, maid of honour and I made personalised biscuits for our favours, which also doubled up as place settings,' she says.
The ceremony itself provided Lewis with one of the most memorable moments from the day ' 'seeing Sophie's face walking down the aisle' ' while being fresh newly-weds proved to be one of Sophie's personal highlights.
'After getting married, Lewis and I went off with our photographer to some fields overlooking the coast to take some photographs,' she says. 'Having this time just to the two of us was special as we were so busy for the rest of the day.'
Joining their guests for lawn games in the sunshine, everyone soon settled into the reception barn for sharing platters of meats, cheeses and breads followed by rack of lamb and ice cream served from a vintage van. The sun-drenched day then slipped into night with a DJ set and plenty of partying as guests helped Sophie and Lewis celebrate their union in style.
'It's great to add a DIY touch to your day and get close family and friends involved too!' says Sophie as her top tip to other couples in the throes of planning.
