Wedding at Tunnels Beaches, Devon

Internet dating led Liam and Ciaran to a pub on the river in Kingston for their first date ' and, eventually, an unforgettable proposal in Helsinki.

'I knew there was a Yayoi Kusama exhibition on, and I proposed in one of the infinity mirrored rooms,' says Liam. 'The setting was surreal, especially as the surrounding excited Finns saw the scene unfold as I got down on one knee!'

A neon pink theme carried through the dÃ©cor of the day, contrasting perfectly with the muted ocean tones of their chosen venue, Tunnels Beaches.

'We both love bright colours,' explains Liam. 'We stumbled upon the hot neon pink theme after picking our wedding stationery and things snowballed from there.'

The north coast setting afforded guests a fun-filled mini-break vibe. 'We were very lucky with the weather. It felt like a Mediterranean holiday ' there is something special about being able to go for a paddle and have the sand between your toes on your wedding day,' says Ciaran, who together with Liam plotted a surprise carnival-esque twist to proceedings.

'We had a super naughty drag queen who did a spectacular job of making all of the guests laugh and squirm awkwardly in equal measure. We kept it all under wraps, so all of the guests had a big surprise when she made her grand entrance. She was an absolute scream and sang a series of parody songs with her fluffy pink piano! We laughed so much,' says Ciaran.

Food was another crowd-pleasing feature of the day, which took the mouth-watering form of a barbecue featuring garlic lemon chicken skewers, beef burgers, Cajun spiced squid skewers, Mediterranean lamb kebabs, vegan bean burgers, various salads, and Middle Eastern couscous, rounded off with Eton mess.

London Folk Avenue provided the evening's entertainment courtesy of their Mumford and Sons and Irish-inspired playlist that they played into the early hours, leaving Liam and Ciaran to reflect upon their hilarious and heartfelt day.

'I just think the sheer volume of laughter on the day is the thing we will treasure the most. We aimed to throw a big party full of fun and laughter, and I think we nailed it!' says Liam, who offers advice for other couples in the throes of planning.

'We were so lucky to be able to have Emma to do our photography. You spend a good part of your day with your photographer so getting someone who makes you feel at ease and who can make you laugh is really important (and don't forget to book meals for the band and photographer!),' he says.

'Our florist suggested bringing four extra vases for the bridesmaids' flowers to be put in to decorate the venue after the service and keep them fresh ' this was perfect and meant they lasted much longer.'
